A quiet moment at the turning of the season, Returning Light captures the gentle promise of spring within the depths of winter woodland. A Solitary blackbird descends towards a fallen log, surrounded by the stillness of the forest. Above and beyond the trees the darkness of winter begins to soften as light slowly finds its way back into the landscape. Inspired by Imbolc, a time traditionally associated with the returning light, renewal and the first signs of new life, the painting reflects that delicate moment between seasons, when winter has not quite released its hold, yet spring is beginning to stir beneath the surface.The blackbird becomes a small messenger of this change: grounded in the quiet woodland, yet moving towards the light. Returning Light is a celebration of hope, renewal and the gentle promise that even after the darkest part of the year, the light always begins to return.
